Due to the strategic location at the intersection of the main transport routes on the north-south and east-west lines, as well as the ever-improving transport infrastructure, Poland is increasingly emphasizing its strong position on the logistic map of Europe:
- 21 multimodal transhipment hubs (hubs) on the TEN-T trans-European transport network (Trans-European Transport Networks, an EU program for transport networks) will be created by 2020.
- Over PLN 45 billion was allocated in Poland between 2008 and 2014 for the construction of highways and expressways.
- Over PLN 67.5 billion are investments for the development of railway infrastructure as part of the Multi-Year Railway Investment Program between 2014 and2023.
- Over PLN 140 billion are planned expenses for the construction of road infrastructure under the new EU financial perspective. Within this amount, national expenditures will amount to PLN 90 billion, the rest is EU funds.
- A further 1,800 km of national and express roads will be built by 2023.
Poland also has:
several significant airports that enable air transport (airports located in: Warsaw, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Kraków, Katowice, Poznań, Rzeszów, Łódź, Lublin, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz), several ports for sea transport (Szczecin-Świnoujście, Gdynia and DCT Gdańsk), almost 20,000 km of railway lines, thanks to which rail transport through Poland is possible.
On June 2, 2018, the President of the Republic of Poland signed the Act on the Central Communication Port (CCP). It is a concept of a transport node based on integrated air and rail nodes, consistent with the road network layout. The junction is to be located between Warsaw and Łódź. The forecast date for launching the CCP is mid-2027. In the first years of operation, CPK is to have two runways, and ultimately four and operate about 45 million of passengers yearly. The target of CPK is to operate 100 million of passengers yearly.
According to the assumptions of the Polish government, the preparatory work is to continue until the end of 2019, and the port itself is to be built for the next 8 years - it should be opened in 2027. In August 2018, the Government Plenipotentiary for the Central Communication Port announced that the first plane should take off from Baranów (location place of CCP) in the winter season of 2027/2028
The adopted concept assumes reconstruction of the A2 motorway (motorway running from west to east through Poland - from the border with Germany to Warsaw), construction of the Warsaw bypass and approx. 700 km of new railway lines.
